This commemorative coin is the second in the “Portugal and the Orient” series and pays tribute to the taste for porcelain.

Inspired by the floral motifs typical of Chinese and Portuguese porcelain, as well as his personal experiences in Macau, the multifaceted artist André Carrilho challenged the technical team at Casa da Moeda to create a unique and innovative piece. With a face value of €5.00, all the finishes will have a square hole in the centre, reminiscent of the well-known amulet coins in circulation in China.
